He came to Chelyabinsk in 1950, worked at the Ordzhonikidze metalwork plant. He studied and graduated from the Chelyabinsk Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture (CHIMEA, 1958) [3].
In 1966, he was elected by competition as an assistant professor of the department of heat supply and ventilation of the newly established Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute.
At this department he successfully worked for about 20 years. Since 1987 V.T. Blagikh was Professor of Automation Department of Chelyabinsk State Agrarian University.
For the first time he made a map of air pollution in the city of Chelyabinsk. In 1962 he substantiated the necessity and expediency of correction of development plans of Chelyabinsk. He rejected the construction of the largest residential area near Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant and shifted the construction, taking into account the wind rose, to the north-western part of the city.
